Day 13 – Watercolor Painting ©CarolinaRusso

Hello friends,
I am so sorry that I have been quite and I haven’t posted lately. Not even for this beautiful event this year I am going to create one painting at week I have been very busy lately fulfilling orders for my Scott Hutchison Tribute Portrait.  I also had some very sad days I have lost two pets in the last 10 days so my heart is grieving!

Today painting it is off of the official prompt list.  The title I gave is “Universal Love”  is a watercolor enhanced with gold and fine line work with ink. I love the contrast of the raw sketch style in addition to the watercolor.

Day #13 World Watercolor Month 2017

Day 13 – Unseen (Off Prompt) – Original Watercolor ©Carolina Russo

Today painting is an off prompt and my title is “Unseen” I hope that you like this piece it was one of those days where I had to deal with not being greatly satisfied with what I was painting! But in the end I am ok with the way it turned out! Maybe it is just me today having an odd day or being too critical to myself. I started this painting having not idea of what to paint, then I wanted to stay on my path for this series of portraits that I am making! Then I just started to put colors quickly on the paper and let the water flow and here it is…that’s art life!

Details about my watercolor paintings:
My watercolors is outlined with black and white ink pens. Gold Jelly Roll pen. I used  French Artists Watercolors  Sennelier  l’Aguarelle,  Ink pens used COPIC Multiliner Black ink #03 and 05 . Day 12 – Golden Evenings #WorldWatercolorMonth

– Golden Evenings –
Day #12 World Watercolor Month 2017

Day 12 – Golden Evenings – Original Watercolor ©Carolina Russo

Today prompt is  “Golden Evenings” I painted a semi- abstract  portrait in a soft and delicate color palette. The girl is looking dreamy at beauty of the sky and it is surrounded by golden spheres which they represent her dreams. The gold it is always difficult to photograph, so I took two photos, hopefully in the second one you can see the the gold sparkle! I haven’t used gold ink this time because I wanted obtain a almost transparent effect, not so bold for this I used the Japanese watercolors Kuretake Gansai the 36 color set which include some metallic. I am happy with the result I like the lightness of the gold and how the portrait turned out!

Day 9 – Summer Tunes (The Twilight Sad) #WorldWatercolorMonth

– Summer Tunes (The Twilight Sad)  –
Day #9 World Watercolor Month 2017

Day 9 – Summer Tunes (The Twilight Sad) – Original Watercolor Ink Painting ©Carolina Russo

Today painting prompt is “Summer Tunes” this has been a very nice and fun prompt for me to  paint and illustrate in a comic cartoons 50’s looking style. This painting is inspired by the album covers of one of my favorite bands nowadays  Scottish  “The Twilight Sad” I don’t know the name of who created the original covers, I wish I knew to be able to give credit. This is my vision and reinterpretation combining two of their album covers together as watercolor painting with ink outline. If you are a fan of this band then you know exactly about these album covers! 😉 This painting it is also created as part of my Collection “Art For Music” it is also my second painting dedicated to this band. I love their music and it is for sure my go to Summer Tunes and all year round with few other amazing bands I love.

Details about my watercolor paintings:
My watercolors is outlined with black and white ink pens. I used  French Artists Watercolors  Sennelier  l’Aguarelle,  Ink pens used COPIC Multiliner Black ink #03 and 05 . A Alvin Draft/Matic #03 Limited Edition Pink Mab Graves Pencil.  Pentel Aqua Brush – I painted on Bee Paper for watercolor 140lb, 100% cotton, cold pressed, size 6×9 inches .

For your knowledge and curiosity here I will post the images of the two original covers:

Day 7 – Frida Kahlo Portrait #WorldWatercolorMonth

– Frida Kahlo Portrait  –
Day #7 World Watercolor Month 2017

Day 7 – Frida Kahlo Portrait (Off Prompt)- Original Watercolor ©Carolina Russo

Today painting is an off prompt! I decide instead to paint a tribute portrait to Surrealist Artist “Frida Kahlo” this is a commemorative month since yesterday was her birthday. Artist all over the world are giving their tribute. I made my portrait in my style but something a little different from my usual, it has the Surrealist touch, I painted inspired by her life story and by several of her original paintings like ” Self-Portrait With Bonito -1941″, “The Broken Column -1944”, “The Deer Wondered – 1946″, ”  Elements like flowers, animals, arrows and internal body parts are often appearing in her paintings as her creative and unique way of artistic expression.

Frida Kahlo mostly painted self portraits one of her famous quotes says: “I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best”

Details about my watercolor paintings:
My watercolors is outlined with black and white ink pens. I used  French Artists Watercolors  Sennelier  l’Aguarelle,  Ink pens used COPIC Multiliner Black ink #03 and 05 .
