Inktober 2020 – MabsDrawlloweenClub Day 1: Fish – Werewolf

Day 1 Fish – Werewolf

Day 1:  Fish – Werewolf
Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober
Inktober:  Fish
MabsDrawlloweenClub:  Werewolf

It’s that creative time again welcome October!
This month brings some of the most loved drawing challenges Inktober  begins today!
This is my 5th year participating and once again I decided to create my drawings inspired by the official prompts of my  two favorite challenges (read my previous post here)
The challenge Mabsdrawlloweenclub is usually inspired by dark folklore and legend’s characters it has an Halloween theme.  Inktober prompts can be anything usually common things. I find it  interesting to see what I am able to create also when sometimes the two prompts of the day aren’t easy to combine! Doing an Hybrid challenge will refine creativity and skills!

For today drawing I had to combine Werewolf and Fish I guess I did it nicely and I am happy with my painting! I am not so much inspired by dark creepy or scary characters so I try to make them look less scary and more nice :-). I have created my Werewolf in a lovely female form taking a bath at the full moon light enjoying the company of a lovely Koi Fish.

❤ Details about my drawings:

INKTOBER 2020 – October Drawing Challenges Official Prompt Lists

October Challenge

COMING SOON!
“INKTOBER 2020
31 Days 31 Drawings”

Since 2009 in  October, artists all over the world take on the InkTober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month.

InkTober 2020
October is coming soon! And it means that artists around the world will participate to this great and inspiring drawing challenge.  This is my 5th year of InkTober, I will do all my best to create as much as possible and I hope to be able to complete the 31 days.  This year honestly I have no idea how I will approach the two challenges! Usually in the past few years I have followed the Official prompt lists and to make it more challenging and intriguing I combined the two challenges in one, combining the prompts! Not easy to do. Sometimes the two prompts aren’t a good match but that’s were creativity do the magic! Right now, I am navigating ideas  trying to make plans, not sure I want to combine the two challenges together. If not, I need to pick one, or not follow the official prompts and make my own list….lots to think for me! Your suggestions are welcome! ❤

Jake Parker the illustrator and creator of Inktober  released the new “Official Prompt List 2020” and I love to post it here so that you have some time until October 1st to plan and get ready!

Inktober 2020 Official Prompt List

My Inktober history:

2016  following the “Official Prompt List” I have created a “Fantasy Character Design”  which I love, her name is ©Ylia.  I have illustrated her adventures inspired by the daily prompts and developed her character and story throughout the month. If you follow me from the last 4 years, then you should remember my character Ylia,  the pic below shows one of my entry and you can see her. If you like to see more check all the other entries about her on my InkTober 2016  Gallery:

Day #12 – WORRIED – InkTober 2016 ©Carolina Russo

I had fun to create ©Ylia, she is a futuristic kind of “Superhero Warrior” with a nod to the past, she is a Messenger of “Love and Peace” and a creature of the universe that fight for the universal love. Most of my drawings were accompanied by quotes and Haiku poems that I wrote. Maybe one day I will publish an illustrated book of @Ylia Adventures! I would love that!  We will see what the future brings!

2017 I have Joined the two challenges InkTober and MabsDrawlloweenClub this one is a little more spoocky – Halloween theme prompts are created by Pop Surrealist artist Mab Graves!  My daily drawings were inspired by the combination of the two challenges daily prompt words creating my own hybrid challenge “DrawllooweenTober”  yes this was my idea to enable me to join both challenges daily creating one drawing. And well it was pretty challenging, not easy but I wanted to make it harder to stimulate creativity in a different way and I made it! The outcome was a lovely collection of dark themed spooky drawings which I am very pleased!

My drawing “Frankenstein Bride” of this series become my first Die Cut Sticker

Day #2 Goblin Divided – Supplies

2018 I have joined again the two challenges, I really love both and the community of artists around these two challenges. I didn’t want to miss them so I’ve participated with my hybrid mixing the prompts and my own hashtag is  #drawlloweentober  you can see my Gallery Inktober+ MabsDrawlloweenClub 2018

Your Art as TATTOO? What to do when you get this request

Tattoo – Ph Credit Grace Madeline found on Unsplash.com

My Artworks as TATTOOS

Lately I have received an increased number of requests from people that like my art asking permission to use my artworks for a tattoo. I am happy that people like my Art as much to decide to have it permanently inked somewhere on their body.  I consider this request a great and wonderful honor, I am thrilled and humbled that someone is thinking to use my existing paintings or illustrations for their tattoos! Well, as visual artist this open another window into my art. I love tattoos and  this is the opportunity with this post to inform and talk about a few important things. What to do with a request like this? If you’re an artist, or, if you are the person interested to get the tattoo.  There is something very important to be aware of, and is that people cannot just save an image of an artwork over the internet and take it to the Tattoo Shop to  have it tattooed. Some Tattoo artists only works on their own custom creations and most of all they do not copy another tattoo artist work. They are a bit more open when you bring your favorite visual artist work to be recreated having the permission from the artist. So, what to do then?  There is a mutual respect of the Copyright  between a tattoo artist and a visual artist, no one wants to do a “Copyright Infringement” while recreating without permission an existing artwork that is not custom created by the tattoo artist you choose but created by another artist. Then, not everyone knows that if you’re going to bring your favorite artist artwork to have it tattooed it’s needed the artist “Permission”. All you need to do is to obtain your permission in advance, by contacting directly the artist, or find out if he/she sell a Tattoo Pass/Ticket on their website or shop. What is a Tattoo Pass or  Tattoo Ticket? Artists sell the permission letter to use their artwork as tattoo often nothing is shipped and they send a downloadable PDF for you to print. When you purchase the Pass or Ticket, it’s your kind way to pay and support the artist work and art.

About me, I have been thinking at a nice way to grant my tattoo permission to who is interested. I have created and released my TATTOO Permission Pack!
My Pack includes the personal permission letter and a beautiful hand enhanced print of my artwork you want to be tattooed.

I really appreciate if you ask permission in advance is a great act of support and kindness!
I own the Copyright of my work as Artist ©Carolina Russo any unauthorized reproduction or use without my written permission is in violation of the U.S. Copyright law.
I am happy to grant you a Tattoo Permission for my Artworks to be inked, but before you go on, there are few details that you need to know, please make sure to read my Tattoo Policy.

Tattoo Policy:
1) If you love my Art please consider to support my work by buying (prior getting the tattoo done) my TATTOO Permission Pack  price is $55 + free shipping, which includes the written Permission a 5×7 inch print of the artwork you choose to get tattooed. My prints are hand enhanced and signed by me it would be a great reference piece for the Tattoo Artist and in the end for you to have my art in your home. This is the best way to support my work in a respectable and honest way. The print pack comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, the Tattoo’s Permission that allow you to get my artwork tattooed (it includes your name) Permission and image cannot be shared with someone else for another tattoo each Permission it’s personal.

2) Please use a reputable and serious Tattoo Artist and bring my “Permission Form” with you because a serious tattoo artist will ask for it. Do not alter, transform or manipulate my image in any way, the only option I allow is to accommodate you if you want the tattoo to be in “Black Shading” instead of my original colors. In that case you have to let me know when you purchase your Permission Pack.

3) When the Tattoo is done if  you share photos on social media please Tag me on Instagram @carolinarussoart  I love to see it and share it too! Always whenever you share images of the tattoo please give me credit as the artist that created the original artwork and credit your tattoo artist too, also ask your tattoo artist to do the same if photos are shared.

Watercolor – Queen Flower

Queen Flower – Original Watercolor ©CarolinaRusso

Exploring a new idea

Today I am excited to share with you one of my latest watercolor painting having the title  ” Queen Flower”.
I painted in my traditional signature style in watercolor and ink but this time not on the usual watercolor paper. I came across this 10 inches diameter paper lace doily at home and my first thought was to make a ink drawing on it! I love to explore new artistic and creative ways to paint, testing papers or surfaces and see how watercolor works especially on unusual ones! I am always driven to try new techniques and materials. I have to say that the combination of watercolor and ink pen did work really well without any bleeding through the paper! I am happy and pleased with the outcome! The watercolor looks great on this paper doily, the original painting is lovely and would look great with a floating frame.  I will sure create more paintings on paper doilies in the future.

The Original Painting is Available for sale!

Day 27:  Coat – Stranger Things

Inktober:  Coat
MabsDrawlloweenClub2019:  Stranger Things

Hello friends I can’t believe we are almost at the end of October and of Inktober art challenge only four more days to go!
Today drawing is inspired by the prompts “Stranger Things” a very popular American TV-14 series for young adult on Netflix. If you are familiar with the 3 Seasons of this fiction, science, horror series, then you sure recognized my two very loved main characters. Eleven the girl with the special telepathic and psychokinetic powers and ability and Mike the boy that found her when she escaped from an experimental scientific facility. I am not going to say more… as I don’t want to spoil the story if you intend to watch it! I have to say, that I enjoyed to watch all the 3 seasons with my daughter very much it is a very interesting , fun and dramatic series and very captivating! Now waiting for the 4th Season hopefully in 2020.

Inktober 2019 – MabsDrawlloweenClub Day 26 Dark – Huli Jing

Day 26 Dark – Huli Jing

Day 26:  Dark – Huli Jing
Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019
Inktober:  Dark
MabsDrawlloweenClub2019:  Huli Jing

Today prompt “Huli Jing” is inspired by the Chinese Mythology (Chinese狐狸精; literally: ‘fox spirit’) or jiuweihu (Chinese: 九尾狐; literally: ‘nine-tailed fox’) are Chinese mythological creatures who can be either good or bad spirits. During the Han dynasty, the development of ideas about interspecies transformation had taken place in Chinese culture. The idea that non-human creatures with advancing age could assume human form. As these traditions developed, the fox’s capacity for transformation was shaped. (Source WikipediA)

I hope you like my drawing and vision of the Huli Jing representing the 9 tales Fox Spirit, the black minimalistic background is for combine the prompt Dark. I think it suits greatly with my composition.

Inktober 2019 – MabsDrawlloweenClub Day 24 Dizzy – La Llorona

Day 24 – Dizzy – La Llorona

Day 24:  Dizzy – La Llorona
Double Challenge combined prompts #Drawlloweentober2019
Inktober:  Dizzy
MabsDrawlloweenClub2019:  La Llorona

Today prompt “La Llorona” is what inspired the creation of my whole drawing.

The Legend:In Latin American folklore, La Llorona also known as the Weeping Woman or the cryer, is one of the most famous legends. It is the story of a woman. The lore states a woman was abandoned by her husband and was left alone to raise her two sons, whom she instead drowned in a river out of grief and anger. As a result of her actions the woman is condemned to wander for all eternity until she finds the bodies of her children, often causing misfortune to those who are near or hear her. The oral story represents La Llorona as a person, legend, ghost, goddess, metaphor and symbol“. (source WikipediA)

This is my Vision: of La Llorona I wanted to capture her in a specific emotional state, which is that moment when after all the pain and sorrow, when the sadness took all her tears, when there is nothing else out of her… that moment when she needs to surrender to herself and let it go all the pain, is that moment when she comes out of the dark, see barely the light and when she gets her first breath with a feeling of relief 🖤this is what I wanted to capture in her. I hope I did! Today drawing was a little on the darkside but that was the only way to represent La Llorona.

❤ Details about my drawings: Supplies used for my Ink drawing ink pens used COPIC Multiliner Black ink #03 and 05, Micron dark red ink #, brown #003. Fountain Pen Pilot Prera Fine Nib. Alvin Draft/Matic pencil #03 Limited Edition Pink Mab Graves.
