Winter Wonderland 31 Days 31 Paintings Challenge!!!

Today is day 11/31 Charlie’s  prompt list says  “POINSETTIA”  I am joining  doodlewash  if you like to do watercolor painting or ink-wash or sketckes you can still join in to this December Challenge, you’re invited! Check the doodlewash link!

There is no Christmas without a Poinsettia! This plant is beautiful and is one of the Christmas flowers the deep red of the traditional flower is a wonderful color. I guess at this time of the year this plant is used to decorate indoor and outdoor pretty much everywhere around the world! I have been drawing poinsettia since I was a child, creating hand drawing Christmas cards for my sweet mom and family! No matter if is a real plant a drawing or anything that represent this red flower, just the presence in the house enhance the feeling of the holidays.

Details about my watercolors:
 watercolors are outlined with black and white ink pens. I used  French Artists Watercolors  Sennelier  l’Aguarelle 12 demi-godets half-pans travel metal box  Ink pens used  Pigma Micron Black ink #02, white Uni-ball Signo gel pen and a black ink  Pilot Prera fountain pen fine nib .  I also used a Pentel Pocket Brush I painted on a small 3.5 x 5.5 inches mixed media sketchbook.

  2. This combo of poinsettia and a sprig of holly just shouts Christmas to me….’ It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas’ love this Carolina 😀

  3. This is so beautiful. My one doesn’t “bloom” at all for years. Thank you for adding some color to it… lol! You did this one amazingly with all the details. And as it was said by Magny, you truly spread the Christmas Spirit!
